How the feelings and emotions words fit each size
69 of the 70 feelings and emotions words fit the 11 × 11 easy grid. DISAPPOINTED is too long for it, so it only turns up on the 15 × 15 medium and 19 × 19 hard grids.
23 words have five letters or fewer, AWE, JOY and SHY among them, and those are the first ones young solvers spot. The longest, DISAPPOINTED, EMBARRASSED and OVERWHELMED, are the last to be found.
A way to use the feelings and emotions word search
After each word is found, ask the child to share a time they felt it, or to draw the face that goes with it. It is a gentle way into a feelings check-in.
