How the winter words fit each size
Every one of the 63 winter words is short enough for the 11 × 11 easy grid, so easy, medium (15 × 15) and hard (19 × 19) all draw on the full list.
21 words have five letters or fewer, ICE, ICY and SKI among them, and those are the first ones young solvers spot. The longest, HIBERNATION, HYPOTHERMIA and ANTIFREEZE, are the last to be found.
