Which size to print
Easy lays 8 clues into an 11 × 11 grid, using words of three to seven letters. Medium is 13 × 13 with 12 clues and words up to nine letters. Hard is 15 × 15 with 16 clues and words from four to eleven letters, which is where the crossings start doing real work. The generator places longest words first and only keeps a layout where every word crosses at least one other, so a puzzle that comes out with fewer clues than the label promises simply ran out of words that fit — it is still a complete, connected crossword.
Printing it well
Print puts the grid and both clue lists on one sheet with the controls hidden. Print once with answers off, then press Answers and print again for the filled grid — that order gives you a clean puzzle and a separate key. The PNG is rendered at three times screen size and the answer file saves under its own name, so the two never get mixed up.
Using these in a book you sell
